PLAY is as important to our physical and mental health as getting enough sleep, eating well, and exercising. Play teaches us how to manage and transform our "negative" emotions and experiences. It supercharges learning, helps us relieve stress, and connects us to others and the world around us. Play can also make work more productive and pleasurable.Source(s): help guide//

well playing, itself, has lots of benefits. It creates an opportunity for kids and grown-ups to socialize and at the same time develop skills specific to the skill set recommended for the task to be accomplished. It also increases a person's( particularly a child's) intelligence in a broader perspective. So.. Playing is really that important specially to kids:) but as for most things, do it in moderation.

Because we are so complex, our lives are so busy and stress laden....
we need to be able to let off steam, read stress here.
Children play to interact and learn social skills, and to assist in growing...
They exercise all their muscles, and thereby aid in growth and development while learning
people skills, without even knowing it.
As adults, we usually don't know how to "play"... but we know that we need to do something to unload the worries of our fast-moving lives. Some play sports.... some watch sports.... and indulge in all kinds of physical distractions in order to relax.
We don't all succeed...
