Do I need to use a fuse with my amplifier?

I bought a subwoofer, an amplifier, a wiring kit, and a 120v AC to 12V DC converter. Normally people set it all up (minus the converter) in there car and use their car battery as the power source. And normally they put a fuse in between the battery and the amplifier. Normally people set it all up (minus the converter) in there car and use their car battery as the power source. And normally they put a fuse in between the battery and the amplifier. A 60amp fuse came with the wiring kit but since I am hooking it up to the converter, not a battery, and the converter has its own 60amp fuse( 2 30s actually but that's the same as 60, right?) do I need to use the fuse that came with the wiring kit? should I? what are the benefits/drawbacks for using it?
Update: The amp itself has 3 40amp fuses on it.
