In Excel 2007, why are the Y-axis values placed in the X-axis?

In science courses, x-axis values are constant values. For example, months of the year. Now, what I'm getting are values in x-axis that need to be placed in y-axis. How can you do that in Excel 2007?

I'm using Bar chart.

Right click on an axis in your graph and select "Edit Series." In that popup you'll see where you can re-designate the data columns for both your X and Y axes. Just switch what column you now have for Y to X, and vice versa for X to Y.
