How do I create a one-em dash in Microsoft Word? Just type two hyphens?

    These are called em dashes or en dashes because each dash is either the width of the letter m or n.

    Yes, by default Word will turn two hypens into an em dash, in display and print.

    In fact, if for some reason you want two hyphens you have to do the second one twice: "-" "-" Crtl-Z "-"
