Did Obama honestly not give several Alaskan islands to Russia?

The short answer is no.
The long answer is rather complicated, but It basically goes like this:
Americans surveyed some islands about in the late 1800's and for some reason were listed by the state department in as part of the Alaskan territory (the islands are much closer to Russia, look at them on a map). Literally the only claim that the united states has ever had on the islands is a surveying error in 1881. Shortly before the collapse of the soviet union the united states and the soviets agreed on a maritime border in the bearing sea/arctic ocean. This treaty, which has since been reformalized by the Russian government after the fall of the soviet union puts those islands far inside the Russian maritime border.
Despite it being their territory, the ownership of the islands has never been explicitly confirmed by either country (I would assume this is because neither country thought it necessary).
So in summary, the islands are inside the Russian maritime border and have never been claimed by the united states in any way. As far as I can tell this is a non-issue designed to... muddy the waters?

Honestly I don't care, and neither should you. Before you heard this "rumor" you never heard of those Islands. Now you want to make a big deal about it. Phone someone on one of these Islands and ask!! In any case Obama might not even be aware of it......... government is a big machine with many cogs. Some, of the little cogs, think they know it all and can do as they please

Selling off Alaska back to Russia will help fix out national debt and cut off GOP electoral votes :D
