How will an OTH discharge affect me?
How bad would it really affect my life. For those ignorant, no it's not the same as a felony, dishonorable, or bad conduct. If I lie about my job history gap could my potential employer find out? Will it affect my ability to have a concealed weapons permit or federal firearms license? Or will it affect getting a loan for school or a mortgage?

yes your civilian boss can find out, and yes if he is prior military he will hold it against you.
OTHs lose Federal aid.. no student loans, no fanny mae mortgage help, no eligibility for aid like Welfare or food stamps no gov't jobs or licenses bigger than fishing.
many OTHs can be considered criminal offenses.

An OTH is an administrative discharge and does not automatically affect your right to apply for a concealed weapons permit or an FFL. State laws determine whether you qualify for a CWP.
Lying about your discharge is just stupid. You won't be getting a Federal job, so many employers won't care, unless you're caught lying!
