My craftsman lawn tractor stalls when I let the clutch/brake out while in neutral?

this lawn tractor has done this several times and when it does release it will run fine for a while. Then I have to get off to either put it up or pick up something and I use the lever to keep the brake on but when I depress the brake again to start again with the machine in neutral it starts to stall out

Sounds like the safety switch in the seat may not be engaging or is going bad.

Just a thought!
