did i buy a broken flat iron?

Question

so i just bought the remington anti static purple digital flat iron. i saw and read many reviews on youtube & computer. the people all said that the flat iron was very smooth though the hair, but when i put it in my hair, i find that the glide down my hair kinda pulled at my hair, but it wasn't supposed to. also one of the "floating" plates doesn't float... i think maybe its jammed??? so yeah should i return it?? like did i buy a broke flat iron or is it just already supposed to be like that or what???
