Is Portable Hard Drive products reliable?

Question

Particularly the Hitachi Portable Hard Drive (1TB)- is it any good? And compared to seagate & western digital, is it the same?

I would buy a Hitachi before the other brands. Because I have actually heard of Hitachi before. I have never heard of Western Digital or Seagate.
