Lordfrig is an example of how the Pro Choice people completely ignore the ACTUAL debate, jump to wild, unsubstantiated conclusions, and shut down any meaningful discussion. No one - not a SINGLE person, is trying to overturn Roe v. Wade. 24 years out of the last 40 we have had Republican presidents, some with large Republican majorities in congress, and not a SINGLE bill was even introduced to repeal that legislation. These people are like Don Quixote - fighting the good fight against an imaginary enemy.

The regulations in Texas, North Carolina, and Ohio are designed specifically to shut down practices like Gosnell's, while keeping the doors open for safe, legal abortions within a reasonable time frame, by clinics that have met minimum safety and sanitation standards. So is the bill that is being shut down in the Senate. Wendy Davis and women like her are screaming that abortion clinics will be shut down. Why? BECAUSE THEY DON'T MEET MINIMUM STANDARDS. JUST LIKE GOSNELL!. And they won't be shut down - they will upgrade to meet the new standards.

Apparently, pro choice people are in FAVOR of clinics like this - they completely reject any kind of standards being imposed by the state (the same standards, by the way, that apply to ALL amublatory care facilities), and are gathering with torches regarding a four-week adjustment in the timeframe for a legal abortion.

How, pray tell, does a baby GET "big enough to walk around with me", anyway? Hmmm ... long gestation periods? Past 24 weeks, maybe? How, pray tell, does an aborted baby "Accidentally" get born alive, so that a guy like Gosnell has to cut the spinal cord? Hmmm - staying in the womb long enough to be viable outside the womb?

Instead of filibusters and mob-mentality objections about Anti-Abortion Conservative Christians, and instead of seeing these bills as a move by Right Wingers to block abortions - it would be good if they could put their hatred and emotion aside for a few minutes, take a look at the bill, and NEGOTIATE it. It is PRO woman, and it is a COMPROMISE - people who are personally opposed to abortion want these regulations in place so that if they are going to compromise on them, they at least want them to be safe.

20 weeks instead of 24 ... according to CDC statistics compiled since Roe v. Wade passed, 65% of abortions take place in the first 13 weeks anyway; 98% are done before 21 weeks. So for less than 2% - what is the big deal? Especially if that 20 - 24 week period is now a gray area of viability?

Of course, the joke is totally unfunny - but it represents the unfortunate cavalier attitude that the pro-choice people have. Honestly, I think that Gosnell should be released and allowed to practice - but in exchange for a complete moratorium on any lawsuits brought against any clinic for malpractice, malfeasance, infection, or mishandled emergencies. That's all the laws are designed to regulate anyway.

Gosnell is ultimately the result of what will happen if pro life advocates win the abortion debate.

Women will always seek a way to exercise their constitutional right to self determination. Before abortion was legal they went to the black market and coat hangers to remove unwanted pregnancies. If abortion was banned again how do pro lifers plan to stop what happened last time from happening again? Gosnell was a business man making money and a murderer.

Not funny and Gosnell is exactly what liberals are trying to avoid/prevent.

If you overturn Roe v Wade, you deny quality medical care and condemn poor women and desperate girls to doctors like Gosnell.

Nanny State = government coming between a woman and her doctor.
