Few questions about DNA molecules?

Hello, I'm a student at FIU who's new to DNA, I would certainly appreciate some help!

The polynucleotide chain is given below. It’s a strand of a DNA molecule.

3’ TAC CTT ATC 5’

1. What will be the products if this DNA molecule is replicated?

2. Transcribe

3. Translate the sequence

    1. 5' ATG GAA TAG 3'

    2. 5' AUG GAA UAG 3'

    3. Met-Glu (ME) [UAG is a stop codon, therefore not translated]

The only incorrect part of Roger's answer is that when you replicate this strand, you end up with double-stranded DNA. The sequences of the two strands are:

    3’ TAC CTT ATC 5’

    5' ATG GAA TAG 3'

  • 1. The product of a semi-conservative replication of these three triplets of bases will be:-

    TAC CTT ATC

    2. The transcription of the three triplets of bases will result in the m.RNA sequence:-

    UAC CUU AUC

3 The m.RNA sequence noted in question 2 codes for the following three amino acids.............reading left to right:-

    phenylalanine leucine isoleucine
