I'm looking for works of fiction that would be familiar to a good number of children/teens that have to do with either finding freedom from an oppressive situation or freeing onesself from a self-imposed limitation. Thank you!

This Boy's Life: A Memoir by Tobias Wolfe and the movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Nero as the suffocating, hard-a** stepfather. Both are oh so worthy.
