    HoneybadgerAmerica,

    Polypropylene swords are great for practice.

    Amazon has many that work well, for less cost.

    I would advice long-swords if you can find them, but hand-and-half swords will also do well!

    I have practiced Historical European Combatives for more than 8 years as a serious student-of-the-sword. I am also associated with the HEMA Alliance ( http://hemaalliance.com/.)

    PolyP swords are great in ordinary sparring, but for prize-plays they don't usually cut-it!

    Have sharps ( for pell work ) is also a good idea.

    Nylon swords are ( in my opinion ) the best option for study and for prize-play ( prize-play, aka tournaments.)

    Here are some companies that make nylon swords that don't break very easily;

    Source(s): I have studied this stuff and practiced for years. I am an instructor ( when I am not busy with my normal job ( being a Minister,) and swordsmanship is one of my favorite topics.)
