In the holocaust did IG Farben know they were providing gas for the gas chambers?

Beacsue I know they were originally for insects but how did they move on to humans? How did Hitler get the gas from them? Thanks its for a assessment I'm doing btw x

I take it you mean the company which supplied the gas to the Nazis? Oh they knew. The company and owners were even charged with war crimes after WW2. Now thats not to say that everyone working at the plant knew the truth, but those at the top most certainly knew what was going on. And really-what were they to do? This is one of the problems when a government of a country controls everything within the country. The German government at the time controlled all forms of manufacturing within their country, thus they took what they wanted.

Picture yourself in Germany during WW2. You probably knew of the dirty little secrets going on with the Holocaust, but to keep your family safe you went along with it and kept your mouth shut.

Yes they did, there was close collusion between IG Farben and the Nazi regime and after WWII 13 directors of the company were convicted in a court case - The United States of America vs. Carl Krauch, et al (aka the IG Farben trial). This trial wasn't confined to the production and use of Zyklon B but did include collusion in war crimes and crimes against humanity.

IG Farben knew perfectly well what their insecticide gas was being used for by the Nazis. IG Farben had a factory making the death gas near the Nazi death camp at Auschwitz. (See picture at link 2)

Perhaps we should boycott products made by IG Farben.
