think of the processor as brain, so a single processor means your computer only have 1 brain, a dual processor means you have 2 brains, meaning it can process data faster than a single brain computer. likewise quad core means it can process data 2 times faster than a dual processor computer. but that is not the only factor how a computer runs more faster or more efficiently... there is also the RAM (Random Access Memory) basically what the RAM does is it holds data, or say a software (running software to be exact like when you open microsoft Word) So the more RAM memory you have, the more running software your computer can take, the faster a processor can access it or process it. When a processor uses all its capacity it needs do store them, otherwise the processor wouldnt remember it. the ram has a direct line to the processor and its faster to save there than saving it on a hard drive (also a kind of memory). the down side is, the RAM's memory is temporary, meaning when you turn off your computer, the data stored in the RAM would be all gone. thats where the Hard Drive comes in. the data stored in a hard drive is permanent. But it is slower to access than RAM

It is a 1.99Ghz 64bit dual core processor. With two cores rather than a single core, the actual speed is rated at 3800+ or the equivalent of a single core running at 3.8Ghz.

Each core is like a different person, while one person can do still do 2 or more things at a time, the 2 people (or cores) can multitask much more efficiently than a single person.
