Suggestions for things to put in a salad?

I've never been much of a big salad fan. Since I haven't had a salad in a while, I decided that I should try to make one with lots of toppings that I like and see if I still dislike them. I don't like tomatoes, cold cheese, or ham, although I wouldn't mind bacon. Other than that, I'm open to anything and any & all suggestions are appreciated!

To me a lettuce salad is the top of the heap as there are no rules and you can add whatever you wish.

My basic in Iceberg tomatoes and eggs. Grated carrots and raisins, sliced celery, cucumber, other cold meats, beetroot, asparagus, grapes, the list is endless, just use whatever you have at hand.

Cheese always is better at room temperature

    I like mixed greens

Raspberries, strawberries black berries, blue berries in any combination.

Dried cranberries if you have no fresh berries.

I like a bit of blue cheese or feta cheese but this is your salad so omit the cold cheese.

Almonds or pecans, toast for more flavor.

    A sprinkle of green onions.

I love bacon so toss in a bit of chopped bacon.

I also am not a fan of tomatoes in my salad mostly because 99% of the time the tomatoes are tasteless.

As for dressing, I don't add much because the berries and cheese sort of make their own dressing but a drizzle of balsamic vinegar would taste great.

A nice rustic roll to sop up the juices and dressing when the bowl is almost empty.

Add some chopped chicken or tuna if you like. If you are going to do this salad right get a bit of real tuna for the salad not the can stuff. (make tuna the night before and make a piece extra for the next day.)

I had a romaine lettuce salad with granny smith apple slices and cranberry raisin. Verry good! Put some goat cheese on there with a rasberry dressing and you got yourself a delicious salad.

Bacon bits, brocolli, ranch dressing, croutons, hard boiled eggs... maybe some chick peas if you like those. I would say shredded cheese but you said you don't like cold cheese.

Ummm.. it's really up to you and your preferences.

For something different, try zucchini and yellow squash. For the zucchini, slice it like cucumbers. For the yellow squash, scoop out the seeds and chop into little chunks. It's very good and people are amazed when you tell them what it is.
