    Divergent, by Veronica Roth

The Mortal Instruments, by Cassandra Clare

    The Selection, by Kiera Cass

The series called His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman. The books are

    The Golden Compass

    The Subtle Knife

    The Amber Spyglass

PLEASE do not the let the pitiful movie they made of The Golden Compass put you off. The books are quite good - and I read them . . . well, let us just say I am probably older than your mother, I read them recently and I enjoyed them very much.

You might enjoy the books of Anne McCaffrey. Start with

    White Dragon

You might also enjoy the books of Juliet Marillier

    Daughter of the Forest

    Son of the Shadows

    Child of the Prophecy

    Hope I helped.

    "1984" by George Orwell

    "Fahrenheit 451" by Ray Bradbury

    "The Giver" by Lois Lowry

These are excellent examples of dystopian literature.

    "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Bronte

"The Earth, My Butt and Other Big Round Things" by Carolyn Mackler

"Souad" which is a true story and the author escapes me at the moment.

These three are a more diverse collection of stories about hardship and to a degree, finding love.

If you've read the hunger games you will love Divergent. Veronica Roth is amazing and the movie is coming out next year.

Its cheap and interesting. Has the potential to pleasantly surprise you:

Otherwise the last apprentice is a horrorish, romancish series I enjoyed:http://www.amazon.com/The-Last-Apprentice-Revenge-...

Finally I would suggest trying A Game of Thrones. (Not going to link this one because I couldn't find the link...)
