Why is Bulgaria one of the fastest developing countries?

How is Bulgaria developing? ( In anyway but mostly in Tourism )

Bulgaria is not one of the fastest developing countries. There might be statistics which say so, but there is no significant improvement in the economic situation and people life standard. Ever since Bulgaria joined the EU in 2007, prices have been rising with fast pace, up to 50% on some goods. There are EU programs, aiming to support infrastructure development, but they were put on hold due to corruption. Recently they have been released, but this hasn't led to any significant economy progress. Bulgaria was affected by the overall economy crisis and unemployment rates have risen.

Due to lack of building control, Bulgarian Black sea and mountain resorts have been over-built with a large number of hotels and villa complexes. Constant construction process, noise and dust have been scaring tourists away in the past 5 years or so, currently there are too many hotels and too few tourists, mostly on budget / alcohol tourism.

I cannot begin to cover the problems with the government of B. Borisov, mostly regarding poor health care system management, lack of reforms and poor quality of education, police's acts of violance, phone tapping without control etc http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=201... ------ UN RANKS BULGARIA AMONG DEVELOPED COUNTRIES

According to the UN, Bulgaria belongs to the group of countries with a high degree of national development. The country is ranked 55th out of 177 countries, according to the UN Human Development Report. Each year, the UN Development Programme carries out similar evaluations. Last year Bulgaria belonged to the group of countries with a medium level of human development. The index is determined by various factors, including average lifespan, education and average income per person. The list is headed by Norway, followed by Iceland, Australia, Luxembourg, Canada and Sweden. The US is ranked tenth, the UK in 15th place. The last countries in the developed group, together with Bulgaria, are Mexico, Cuba and Latvia. The newest members of the EU from Central Europe have significantly increased their ranking. The highest evaluation is given to Slovenia, ranked 26th. Romania has fallen to 64th place.

The UN Human Development Report report, prepared by independent analysts, has appeared annually since 1990. The report is to be officially presented in Bulgaria today, Sega reported.
