What is causing the ever widening gap between the rich and the poor?
- righteousjohnsonLv 77 years agoFavorite Answer
The only way to reduce the disparity in results is to limit the opportunities for people to succeed.
Where a Socialist sees the need for everyone to get their fair share of the pie, a Capitalist simply sees the need to make more pies.
Government can never make you as rich as your neighbor, it can only make your neighbor as poor as you.

There is a definite gap and the Republicans have a lot to do with it. The Republicans stand for big business and employees, in the eyes of big business, are viewed as an off the shelf dissposable item. The Democratic party is for everyone and is the strongest sponsor for improving the socio economic condition. They supported social security, the GI bill, war against poverty.....the list is endless. Unfortunately, the only good Republican in my view, was the first one, Abraham Lincoln who set the slaves free.

When the republicans get the political power they always stack the deck in favor of the wealthy. Trickle down economics has always ended up the way it is now. When the last real republican, Dwight Eisenhower was president the top income tax rate was 93% and the average employer made about twice as much as his employees. There was no shortage of people trying to start their own businesses and the middle class had money to spend and that kept the economy moving. The current breed of republicans think the middle class should be crushed, but then who would buy the products that make the millionaires rich?

really good Question and there are many studies by serious economists.
real wealth comes from chap clean energy and human brain power to use it. money is a way to "keep score" but is unrelated to effort
lots of books like " how the ultra rich stole america", modern: or historical about the "robber Barons of the late 1800-early 1900
the fact is 1946-1970s were a period of increasing prosperity, decreasing poverty
in the 70''s there began systematic changes in government policy to give more to the rich
the GAP is now wider than just before the great depression
money runs up hill
the purpose of wealth is to gain power and
the purpose of power is to gain wealth

Let me make this easy as of 2008 when Obama took over more people moved from the middle class to the poor and that has continued for the last 5 years so one could only assume that the problem is Obama.

It's the influence of money. We've allowed money to become just too important in our electoral politics. Both parties need railroad cars full of cash to run campaigns, and they both get this cash from the same sources, so you can't realistically expect their agendas to be all that much different. They both serve Big Money.
And what does Big Money want? It wants more money! Nobody gets to be a billionaire and then decides 'Well that's enough. I'll go away now and enjoy my wealth.' No, someone with a billion wants another billion to pile on top of it. They have the money to influence politics, so they do, hoping to do even better. And in fact 'investing' a few million in what has become no more than legalized bribery, that's the best investment you can make!
The Republicans, of course, like to demonize the poor. They would like you to believe that the ONLY reason for poverty is laziness, defects in character, unworthiness. They do this to distract us from the -real- crooks. It's the rich who are stealing us blind, not the poor.

We have a wealthy group of people who have lost all respect for the cowards they control like cattle.
Wealth is a game to those who have lost all respect for their fellow human beings. They have bought into the lie that greed is good. Greed is only good when it does not adversely affect the majority.
The trickle down theory only works when there is mutual respect. When are Americans going to demand some respect?

I believe it is because some people are lazy while others would have to go back to school to get a raise in there pay and some people just aren't experianced enough I also believe people made poor choices when they were young the people I see these days have no interest in bettering themselvesSource(s): Opinion nothing more
