Why is Germany's FIFA code GER and not DEU?
Germany in German is Deutschland so shouldn't FIFA's code for Germany be DEU?
Spain in Spanish is España and FIFA's code for Spain is ESP.
The Netherlands in Dutch is Nederland and FIFA's code for the Netherlands is NED.
So why doesn't the same apply for Germany?
@ Peter D. - FIFA only uses the Latin alphabet.

Everyone has their codes... IOC, FIFA and ISO country codes are sometimes different sometimes the same.
Croatia is Hrvatska in Croatian but in FIFA and IOC it's CRO while ISO is HRV.
Slovenia is in IOC SLO while in FIFA and ISO they're SVN.
