The Koch brothers is a good place to start looking, but over the last few decades, this obstructionism is simply the republican way of playing politics.
They fought Clinton tooth and nail...trying everything possible to bring down his presidency.
Now the same is true of Obama..republicans are desperately trying to find a scandal to hurt the White House and thus ensure their own power.
I grew up in a republican household, and I'm a veteran, but today's republican party cares far more about power then the needs of our nation. Years ago, republicans were more moderate and willing to place the good of our nation above personal political gain, and yes, actually work with the other side!
Look at the House republicans...just this week they had another vote against Obamacare for almost the 40th time?! Why continue to waste taxpayer money when they know it would never pass the Senate?
Is it any wonder why the House has an approval rating of about 16%?!
Republicans don't have a clue today...53 Americans killed under Bush/Cheney at our embassy's, and did republicans demand hearings and investigations? Of course not, there was a republican in the White House.
It's the extremism and hypocrisy of the right which is killing the GOP, and the only way they know to correct this is to lash out, even if it means hurting the nation.
With the GOP's shrinking white male vote, and the ever increasing minority vote, the GOP is in danger of becoming a footnote in history.
