strain?...wet?...de facto?...

新聞內容:

A ban on the slaughter of live poultry at traditional wet markets will go

into effect this Friday.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The move is part of efforts to counter the possibility of an outbreak of the

new H-7-N-9 strain of bird flu.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Philippines de facto ambassador to Taiwan - Antonio Basilio - apologized

this morning for the shooting of a local fisherman by Philippine Coast Guard

personnel on May the 9th.

請問大師,

第一段"...traditional wet markets..." 這裡的wet該做何解?

第二段"...the new H-7-N-9 strain of bird flu..."這裡的strain又做何解?

第三段裡的"de facto"是"實質上"的意思嗎?這是兩個字的片語嗎?

而這個de是英文嗎?可否告訴我這個字真正的意思與用法?

謝謝大師!!

    這裡的wet該做何解

"wet" here is related to water. Usually, "wet market" comes from extensive use of water in the markets. At the market, merchants use water to wash floor, maintain vegetable and fruit fresh, and keep some seafood alive.

    這裡的strain又做何解?

A strain is a genetic variant or subtype of a micro-organism (including, virus, bacterium, fungus)

"de facto" is a Latin expression, it means "according to the fact". It can be used

as an adjective: actual, actually existing

as an adverb: actually, in reality, in fact

In Spanish, you can see "de facto", it means "of the fact". However, it is originated from Latin. In English, it is also used as "de facto". After all, English and Spanish all belong to Latin language system.

    traditional wet market 就是亞洲的"生鮮(生肉、魚等等)超市/菜市場"

    strain 在這裡是生物學的專用詞: 品系,系;菌株

    是實質上的意思,如果我的查詢沒錯的話,de facto是西班牙文! ((本身有修西班牙文

    所以你應該是不會用到啦...除非你要寫西班牙文。那你就得研究研究了。我目前對de的認知是"of"或"from"的用法。

    希望有幫助!!^^
