Wrist pain. What's causing it?

Recently, I have had dull and sharp pains in my wrist. When I have not been doing anything it only dully hurts to bend it backwards. However when I have been doing a lot of physical activity (I am a gymnast) The pain is very sharp if I use it a certain way. I am aware that being a gymnast puts a lot of stress on your wrists, but I have never had this pain before. I first got it when I was doing a skill on bars and didn't rotate my wrists enough, but it was very dull. Did i strain it or sprain it or is it just overuse? what is it and what can i do to help it heal?

The pain in the wrist could be due to a sprain in the ligament.
