    The "as if" here, is actually a subordinate conjunction. Adjectives can be subordinate clauses linked by subordinate conjunctions. A conjunction can be words like unless, as if, until....so...to answer, no, it is not an adjective, but the conjunction would link the clause to create the adjective in subordinate clause form.
