Why do my friends only talk to me in certain classes?

For example, me and a friend have Algebra, Choir, and World Geography together. He'll only talk to me in geography, and he pretends like I don't exist in the other two classes. Why is that?

Update:

He'll talk to his other friends in those classes, and act like I'm not there.

well...are you usually surrounded by your friends in the other classes, if you are he's probably intimidated and afraid to talk to you when you're with all your friends, you should try and talk to him first in the other classes so he knows that you like talking to him :)

He has to initiate the conversations?

    How about you try it.

There could be other reasons too which could be he has better friends in those classes, or that he takes those classes more seriously.
