How to pick a new position in baseball?

I am a freshman i play for my school's jv baseball team but next year coach said i am going to be playing varsity but at shortstop which i normal play is going to be a senior and at second is a another senior what other position should i try.

    You being a shortstop, I would say you must have some speed. I would recommend a high-action outfield position, probably left field or center field. Hope I helped!

    Third base could work good if you can bulk up a little and make some hard, quick throws to first. I'd go for third if I was in your shoes.
