scary looking mass that needs to come off?

my dog has a surgery on Monday to remove the mass...but the title were the vets exact words..they are sending it to the lab after removal

chances of it being cancerous? it is on her tail/butt

    Dogs commonly have lumps usually they are harmless - usually a fatty lump or sebaceous cyst. Usually (not always) the vet can tell by feeling the lump and location where it is or what it is attached. If it is one of the two above lumps/cyst you still make want it removed for superficial reason but it's usually not needed.

    Doesn't sound like a professional sounding vet to me.
