Journalism and Sensationalism?

I have herd from more then one person who has taken classes in journalism or who have majored in journalism say that they are told that sensationalism is fundamental.

Is this something taught in the text books or is this taught in lectures?

I do not listen to what the state media says. I gave up a long time ago on the media(state media)telling the truth.

I am just wondering if this issue is in the textbooks or is it only taught in the lectures?

I do wish the media was truth-full! All they do is follow the party line on the key issues.

Thank you.

Update:

As if I am going to get a straight answer from any one in the media.

All journalism has some sensationalism in it. Sensationalism sells. The good news stations find a healthy balance between both.
