Is cannabis the same thing as marijuana?
I ask because the former is the UK name, the latter the US name and I wondered why the names have to differ, if they do indeed refer to the same thing. Tea is tea, coffee is coffee, beer is beer, rum is rum, tobacco is tobacco - so why the difference in the case of cannabis (or marijuana)?
