I hate to burst your bubble, but it isn't happening.
First, do you realize how old Ed Reed is and how much he was out injured last year? He was likely the Texans greatest addition to the team this offseason and he's likely not going to add all that much to the team. Reed has slowed down. And he's not all that healthy.
I mean, if he was truly great still, don't you think that Chuch Pagano who was his former defensive coordinator with the Ravens would have picked him up, especially with the Colts having far more cash available to them than the Texans did? In reality, the Texans probably lost as much talent in the offseason as they added.
Secondly, didn't you see how the Patriots owned the Texans twice last year? Then the Colts in the last regular game of the season knocked the Texans off their #1 seed pedastal on a game that the Colts didn't really even have to win! And don't forget, the Colts won't be a team that is basically all rookies like last year. So they won't likely have that poor start like last year. On the other hand, the Texans schedule is even tougher than last year. And they have to play the Patriots while the Colts don't.
I think the Colts improved far more than the Texans did. The Colts replaced Avery with an even faster Hey-ward Bey that was a former first round pick. They added Laron Landry to the team who is one of the best safeties in the league. They added Gosder Cherilus to the offensive line that helped Stafford get a few 5,000 yard seasons. They added one of the very top pass rushers in the draft in Werner. They added a fast huge guy to the offensive line in 6'4" tall and 340 lb Montori Hughes. Josh Chapman will get added to the mix who was Alabama's nose tackle on their championship team and who can push back 3 offensive lineman all on his own. They've got Griff Whalen adding to the receiver list who is like a young Wes Welker. They added Boyett from Oregon at safety who ran a 4.3 second 40 yard dash while injured. That's among the very top times and that's while injured!
Irsay spent over $40 million more this year than he did last year on the team. The Colts added a ton of talent between free agency and the draft. And I don't care whether you added Hopkins or not. It won't help all that much with as often as Schaub threw interceptions last year in big games.
The Colts will take back the AFC South championship this year and the Texans will be hoping for a wildcard spot.
And honestly, regarding the Texans defense. It isn't their secondary that is the problem. It is their rushing defense that is bad. Vick Ballard is a pretty descent running back, but no huge name. And he just totally burned the Texans defense in the Colts game at Indy.
Your Texans have a lot of improving to do if they are going to accomplish near what you stated they will.
