~ Courtesy of WAVE 3 ~The Kentucky Oaks is the Derby's sister race and is the nation's most lucrative race for 3-year-old fillies. The winner receives a silver trophy plus an estimated $564,200 payday and a garland of pink lilies (first awarded in 1991). Preference to start is given to fillies that earned the most points in 35 designated races that comprise the "Road to the Kentucky Oaks."
The weather forecast for Friday calls for temperatures in the low 70s with a 40 percent chance of scattered thunderstorms.
The Oaks will be televised nationally from 5-6 p.m. on NBC Sports Network. You can see the race in Louisville live on WAVE 3.

UPDATE:
SCRATCHED DUE TO INJURY #10. Flashy Gray/Joel Alvarado/ Bill Mott (Scr’d Injury).
@ Starlight 1 and others who are concerned about Flashy Gray- A tweet from West Point Thoroughbreds, which owns Flashy Gray, said the filly came back from her Wednesday morning gallop with a bruised right heel. Flashy Gray is trained by Bill Mott who I highly respect, he's consistent in making the right decision. :)
**** MY PICKS ****
WIN 8. Dreaming of Julia - She's simply the BEST. The added distance should be to her liking :)
Place 11. Close Hatches- Major Talent. Bill Mott was quoted early in the week saying that they were going to “win the Oaks” with this filly. 11 hole she has the option of doing just that, or sitting just off the front-runners in a perfect stalking trip.
Show 2. Midnight Lucky- Lightly raced but impressive. Great workouts at Churchill.
Alternates:
3. Beholder
4. Unlimited Budget
5. Seaneen Girl

6. Princess of Sylmar, Mike Smith, Todd Pletcher, 20-1 -- liked her winning style in NYC and her recent loss can be attributed to the weight she was carrying, as compared to the winner; unfortunately, her odds at post-time will be juicier than what I got from my sawbucks in the KO Futures /// 2. Midnight Lucky, Rafael Bejarano, Bob Baffert, 9-2 -- BB is blustering how he may have wanted to enter this filly in the KD; will any turf scribes press him on the recent deaths of runners in his stable -- the odds are long on that one /// 8. Dreaming of Julia, John Velazquez, Todd Pletcher, 3-1 -- Pletcher has this field covered; can't keep this racer out of the exotics.

Hi, Sandra, and thanks for hosting. My picks for tomorrow ( Friday) are:
Win: 8, Dreaming of Julia. After her 21 and a half length victory a few weeks ago, it comes as no surprise to anybody that she's the odds on favorite here. She should be. Johnny V will give her a good ride, too.
Place: 2, Midnight Lucky. A nice filly. I think she's got a good shot at it.
Show: 5, Seaneen Girl. I have confidence in her and in her rider.
Alternates in case of further scratches: Beholder, Unlimited Budget, Pure Fun, Silsita.
Enjoy the race !!
PS: Any further word on Flashy Gray's condition? Is she okay?
