So eating 6 small meals is better than 3 big meals?

I heard it helps with metabolism, but exactly how small are the 6 small meals? Like maybe a banana and a sandwich?

Being older, diabetic and on a low glycemic diet it does help the sugar highs and lows for me, plus your not as hungry at the main meals, it is best to find out what your blood sugar levels are, how they spike and fall, I try to eat at the same time every day, like with medications your body knows when it has to be fed, try to balance your meals and vary the snacks, also make sure your portioning is right

It isn't necessarily better. But it's what I do because I don't over eat when I do that.

    Example:

Breakfast: Oatmeal with almonds and raisins, tea

    Snack: apple

Lunch: Peanut butter crackers, salad, an orange, tea

Snack: 1/2 cup cottage cheese, 2 pineapple rings, tea

Dinner: Salmon Filet, salad, green beans, baked sweet potato, roll.

Night snack, Popcorn and iced lemon water

    That's what I ate yesterday.

It's really not as complicated as you're making it out to be.

    Breakfast

    Snack

    Lunch

    Snack

    Dinner

    Dessert/Snack

Snacks can be anything from your sandwich and banana, to yogurt, to oatmeal.
