Hi there. Sorry about your fall. Actually you did not bruise the bone but all the surrounding area. By hitting your leg, you broke all the tiny blood vessels (capilliaries) which bleed into your leg causing the bruise, and as you will have noticed, it started off dark and gradually went different colours until it healed properly. The reason why it still hurts is probably because even though the capilliaries have healed and the bruise has gone, inside the muscles are still not completely healed. Another thing is, bones do not bruise. They are solid, and that is where your red blood cells are made and being as bones are porous they allow the red blood cells to flow through them. I am telling this in easy terms rather than the medical terms, just to help you understand. I take it that you can still walk on it, and if so it goes back to the muscles and tendons around the injury site that have not healed properly yet and that can take a while. 0nly mother nature knows how long, so you will just have to be patient. Everything will come right in the end, and providing that you can still walk, move your toes then there are no broken bones.
