How do you make a birthday card for a blind person?

I have a blind friend I want to make a birthday card for. He can read braille, I dunno what to use, how to poke braille holes in the right paper, etc.

Can someone give me ideas or tell me how?

Update:

I live in Belize. We don really have access to already-made cards. Those are very very expensive. About $4-$10 dollars for one and that is not even the one that can sing.

I thought that making one for him would be thoughtful because he never really gets cards.

Google "happy birthday in Braille". Then write the dots on a piece of paper and take small beads, rocks, or other similar objects and glue them over the dots that you drew. Or turn the paper over and take a ballpoint pen or nail or other semi-pokey tool and poke through the dots to the other side. Just make sure that when you turn it back to the right side, you can feel the poked "dots" raised up.

And if you have supplies on hand, decorate the card with things he can feel--ribbon, confetti, pom poms, bows, textures, the works.

I googled "birthday cards for the blind" and look what came up - http://www.braillecards.co.uk/

Looks good. Explore the net - maybe you'll find something in US.

Very thoughtful of you to want to do that, btw.

Instead of making him a card why not buy him one with those specialized messages. P.S. it's really sweet that type doing that. I wouldn't try.

They sell braille stickers so maybe you could get some of those to spell whatever you need to. You can probably find these stickers at a craft store or of course online.

I think you can get a braille alphabet that you rub the paper against to get the raised bumps. Google is your friend

Why don't you just sing it to him

you can give him or her one that sings! or you can just record yourself singing something special to them!
