    The first sentence is wrong, because in both parts you are using past participle while one action occurs before another one.

    Your second sentence is fine!

    Here are some more examples:

    After she had worked for him for ten years, the maid left for her village.

    Because he had caught all the song birds, the cat became too fat.

    The train had already stopped when he stepped in front of it.
