Math word problem. Can you solve it?

A test consisted of 25 questions. For each question that is correctly answered , the student earns 4 points. For each question that is incorrectly answered, the student loses 1 point. A student received a score of 85 on the test. How many questions did the student answer correctly?

    Leslie, the student answered 22 questions correctly and missed 3.

    22 questions * 4 points per question = 88 points.

    Subtract 3 points for 3 missed questions.

    +88-3 = 85 points.

    C = number answered correctly

    W = number answered incorrectly

         C + W = 25 total questions

          W = 25 – C  ...  equation 1

                   4C – 1W = 85 points scored

               4C – 1(25 – C) = 85 ... substituted eq.1

                 4C – 25 + C = 85

                       5C = 110

                        C = 22 ... number answered correctly ◀◀

     (4  •  22) – (1  •  3) = 85 points (checks out)
