I received 18000 on a job related court settlement. I received a 1099 from attorney.?

is this reported state income in California and if so--does it count towards unemployment compensation if needed in future.

1099s mean some type of taxable income that you did receive during the 2012 tax year that you are required to report correctly and completely on your 1040 income tax return during the 2013 tax filing season and probably some deductible attorney fees some place on your 1040 income tax possible on the schedule A if it is NOT and adjustment to income for the tax year you may some face to face professional assistance while trying to correctly complete you 1040 income tax return during the 2013 tax filing season for this purpose.

Hope that you find the above enclosed information useful. 04/15/2013

job related? 1099 issued by the attorney? very likely this is taxable income to you

and no it will have nothing to do with unemployment

  • What exactly was the settlement for? Some are fully taxable while others are not.
