Progressives: What is your vision for America?

Will there be any brave enough to actually spell it out?

Mary. Your list is interesting since many of them have been causes championed by Liberty loving Americans from the Past and I find it interesting you don't have the confidence in your philosophy to reveal the future. Must be awful.

    Our vision historically has been the only viable vision .Here is a list of visions liberals/progressives had at a given time al of which conservatives fought to stop.

    1.End of slavery

    2.End Jim Crow law

    3.Give women the vote

    4.Institute work place regulations that would stop the Robber Baron slaughter of men women and children in their mines and factories.

    5.Fight for unions which has ultimately been the bases of the US's success .

    6.Fought for the Civil Rights Act

    7.Fought or Social security which today people will "kill to keep"

    8.Fougt for and got MEDICARE

    9.Fought for the rights of women

    10.Fought for EQUAL RIGHTS for all citizens including homosexuals .

    ETC ETC ETC

    When I look at the list of the great progressive visions that have come to be and then think of a country without all these hated conservative visions, I think I would at last buy a gun and add one more to the suicide list .

    I will not bother to tell you what our current vision for the future is but based on the EVIDENCED past , trust us and fight against any and every con out there .

    Not at all.From past experience we have learnt not to share to early our vision for the future because it allowed cons too much time to mount a defense .Just look what happened with the Civil War the cons started when we declared our vision of a country that abided by the Constitution :Thousands of union people were killed by cons when we fought for unions is another example .

    They had time to mount a Civil war that slaughtered hundreds of thousands .

    Ergo dearie, I have no intention of declaring our liberal/progressive vision .for based upon the list of the past,you know you can trust liberals and cannot trust your own kind .

    WOW!!! What and who are "Liberty Loving Americans" ?? Are they your typical con flip-floppers carpetbaggers like Romney that change views like their dirty underwear .

    As any sane intelligent knowledgable person reads my list they would know that virtually every conservative especially libertarians would never support almost all of these blessings so I guess conservatives are not a part of these Liberty Loving Americans

    For the workforce to be unionized-

    Contracted to the private sector, and not vice versa, for profit shares rather than flat wages.

    Tax transparency and equal rights; including gay marriage as this age's chief human rights concern.

    De-corporatization of the government, and in turn laxer tax penalties on the wealthier class of America. Turned towards resource consumption, among other things, rather than net-wealth.

    Nationalization of the banks and important resource companies.

    Increased role of unions, and a decreased role of lobbyists in the democratic process.

    Rebuttal of unconstitutional acts up until this point, including but not limited to:

    The war on drugs.

    The war on guns.

    The war on food and health transparency.

    The surveillance state.

    NAFTA.

    And an IMMEDIATE trial of all heads of state and state departments for their war crimes, unconstitutional actions up until this point, and any offenses committed against the country as a whole- including disinformation and dishonesty, aggression or conspired aggression against demonstrators nationally and abroad, their role in destabilizing allegedly 'unfriendly' countries as well as using 'proxy-states' and groups for their own interests abroad. Politicians should be held as accountable as anybody else and subject to penalties, if not liquidation, while working for the state.

    A fundamental re-working of the statist two-party system, tax and labor policies, government subsidies, and welfare. Changes at the hands of those willing to participate.

    Immediate actions should not be demonstrated through the current political system. In both directions it works against those who want to bring change. Non-political, parallel institutions functioning for the community, rather than the state, should be established and utilized locally and regionally based off of citizen participation.

    If all else fails, the democratic system should still remain open for change. As we all know that progress in never ending, in any field, and should not be cut off in our generation. The right to live how you choose and trade freely is unquestioned, and we should not have a government strong enough to challenge that.

    Progress means a forward or onward movement (as to an objective or to a goal)

    it doesn't specify what the goal is

    The people you are referring to are socialists.

    I want to progress towards capitalism and free enterprise

    they want to progress towards a Communist Dictatorship

    US should stay out of other countries businesses and stop policing the world. US has enough economical power to give a good life to every US national. Protect the boarders, stay away from policing business, look after the poor and needy of US.

    Total government control, government worshipped as god, everyone dependent upon big government, all rights (as well as the terms "equality" and "fairness") defined by the government.
