I normally go to Horseneck Beach on the town of Westport on Buzzards Bay

this water is much nicer than the water on North Shore beaches like Crane and Salisbury

also look into Duxbury, Scituate and Mattapoisett

In my opinion, the best non-Cape Cod beaches in MA are Wingaersheek Beach in Gloucester, Salisbury Beach in Salisbury, and Nantasket Beach in Hull. There's also a really nice small beach called Black Rock Beach in Cohasset, but you have to be a town resident to park there unless you're lucky enough to find a non-marked place.

I always visited Salisbury beach in northern Massachusetts. There may not be a lot of like amusement parks or beach huts but it is not crowded, the weather is good (July and August) and they have nice waves to go boogie boarding. Also, cranes beach is pretty nice but it can be cold before and after July and August. There are not big waves there if you don't like them. If you do like big waves, go to Salisbury. Cranes beach is in Ipswich

There are other beaches but those 2 are my favorites
