What is the best way to improve my counts of push-ups?
I'm leaving to army BootCamp in July and want to improve my number of reps of push-ups before I leave.

Skip to about 40 seconds to save some time..The main thing is to do wide hand and close hand push-ups. This will help you out a lot because if you are are able to do a bunch of each, AND regular hand width push-ups, you can almost do twice as many in two minutes on the APFT. It does not matter where your hands are at on the test, they will count each rep as long as your elbows make a 90 degree angle.
Also, just remember that on the APFT you have sit-ups and a 2 mile run. A lot of people tent to focus on one thing and forget the other two events. Give yourself a pt test and score yourself in each event. The test will go in this order: 2 minutes of push-ups, 5-10 minute break, 2 minutes of sit ups, 5-10 minute break, and then the 2 mile run. Here is a APFT calculator. Use it. http://apftcalculator.com/Source(s): Soldier, US Army.

You just have to practice, you can start off doing a certain amount of push ups a day, then when you get used to it you can try to do even more a day. If you keep doing more and more you will get stronger, and by the time you have to leave, you will be able to do a lot.
