    George Bender, Ohio

    James Lloyd, South Dakota

    Nelson Rockefeller, New York

Cecil H. Underwood of West Virginia

With George Bender actually getting the most votes beside Nixon. Not Rockefeller.

Barry Goldwater dropped out Before a single Primary.

The word is opposed and it was Nelson Rockefeller and Barry Goldwater. There were more on the Democrat side that year in the primaries since Nixon was the sitting Vice President there were less GOP challenges. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_preside...
