Question

It is given that the scale of a map is 2cm to 50 km.

If the actual distance between two cities is 210 km.

what is the distance between the cities on the map?

the answer is 8.4 cm.

but i need the steps.

s1 Unit is cm , 2 : 5,000,000

s2 210 km = 21,000,000 cm

s3 2 : 5,000,000 = ans : 21,000,000

s4 5,000,000 * ans = 5.000.000 ans

s5 2 * 21,000,000 = 42,000,000

s6 5,000,000 ans = 42,000,000

s7 42,000,000 / 5,000,000 = ans

s8 ans = 8.4cm

Let x cm be the distance between the cities on the map , then

x : 210 = 2 : 50

x / 210 = 1 / 25

x = 210/25

x = 8.4

The distance between the cities on the map is 8.4 cm.
