What are the mechanisms for regeneration? Especially limbs?

I've read something about Blastema and AEC. But what else is involved? Does it vary between species and type of regeneration occurring (morphallaxis and epimorphosis)?

Why are some species capable whilst some aren't?

Regenerate electricity? Anyway electric motor does not change direction when it turns into a generator. Hybrid cars Electric cars many use regenerative brakes to extend range. Also as a side bonus the brakes last a long time. Good Luck
