Whats the best hotel to stay at in Southern California that has rooms with an amazing ocean view?

How do you define the "best"?

Terranea - Palos Verdes = when I was there a few weeks ago, I saw a pod of 50 or so porpoises swim by, a couple of seals, and a whale. This is probably one of the only hotels you are going to get that in all of California because you are on the rocky cliffs, not a long stretch of beach.

Hilton Huntington Beach = this is one of the only hotels with a tower, so you see a completely different view of the ocean, then other places. The way it is situated depending on the time of you, you can see both sunrise and sunset.

Montage, Dana Point = here you are directly on the cliff, which gives it a different view.

The Cottages in Corona Del Mar = they are located on the sand, can't get any closer than that...

Well actually you can = Crystal Pier Hotel which is on the pier in Pacific Beach San Diego, so the water is actually underneath you.

You have a many little places in Laguna, Malibu, and Santa Barbara that overlook the water.

If you want to go North, there are places all along the coast....
