What's your top 10 Classic/Hard Rock SOLO Artists?

Guys, I make it clear, they have to be either classic or Hard Rock stars. I don't want to see Elton John, Michael Jackson, Elvis Presley or George Michael nonsense. Let's keep it Rock here! My top 10 in no specific order:

1. David Bowie

2. Frank Zappa

3. Billy Idol

4. Alice Cooper

5. Peter Gabriel

6. Bruce Springsteen

7. Eric Clapton

8. Janis Joplin

9. Bob Dylan

10. Garry Moore

All of those were front men/women to a band, is most cases they perform today with the same band they started with (Bruce Springsteen)....so are they solo?

David Bowie was originally David Bowie and the Spiders from Mars (his band). Bowie would be in my top 10.

Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention. They were pretty much an acquired taste, hardly worthy of a top 10. They had what...2 hits? Not a top 10.

Billy Idol......sucked then, sucks now. Maybe top 50?

Alice Cooper needed all that band, I'll give you that the band part is virtually unknown, but outside of 2 songs Alice Cooper is pretty much unknown. Not a top 10

Peter Gabriel was the lead singer of Genesis when they were good, Genesis deemed him to weird and tossed him out. His solo work is ok. Not a top 10.

Bruce Springsteen and the E street band - Bruce doesn't do anything without the E street band, but he is their leader/song writer....definitely top 10.

    Eric Clapton.....Yardbirds>Cream>Blind Faith>Derek and the Dominos> then became a "solo" artist....definitely top 5.

Janis Joplin. over rated. Not in the top 10.

Bob Dylan - Dylan is more folk, classic rock = yes, top 5, hard rock = not in the conversation.

Garry Moore...........? Really, Garry Moore was a game show host.

    How about:

Van Morrison? (in my top 5)

    Santana?

    Iggy Pop?

    Jimi Hendrix?

    Lou Reed

McCartney, Lennon and Harrison went to have long solo careers after the Beatles, Lennon's just go cut short at about 10 years?

    Elvis?

    Roy Orbison?

Peter Frampton? (I think Frampton Live is still the top selling live "rock" album of all time?)

Then there are all the reggae, soul and R&B artists.

Peter Tosh's Johnny B Good = my all time favorite versions of that song.
