Are anime light novels like books or manga?

I want to purchase light novels, but I want to know if they are like a normal book where its a page of words, or like manga where its pictures with a lot less words. I want something that I have a lot to read rather than 200 pages of just manga

Light novels are just normal books with some unique characteristics. They rarely go more than 200 pages, are written using archetypes typically found in anime or manga, have a small amount of illustrations scattered throughout, and typically use easy to understand language.

Good places to read a few samples online would be:

It's a novel, or because of the rather short length, might fall into the category of novella.

It does have illustration to accompany the text, but not much, probably 15-20 illustration per volume of light novel. It is certainly not like manga, it is still mainly text.

Anime light novels are usually a bit on the short side (hence the term 'light') and sometimes include a few pictures inside. Other than that it is like a regular book, with words.
