aren't oil based paints toxic?

so i was going to plan to buy a reborn doll off ebay (please dont judge or call me stupid for wanting to do so) because i fell in love with the kit as soon as i saw it (the kit includes twins). its a custom and the artist will do the hair and eyes the way you want it. HOWEVER, the artist also stated that she used oil based paints and inks to make the dolls which when i researched about it, turned out to be toxic. im not sure if "oil based paints and inks" is what she really meant because she also said it was high quality materials and that she has been making the dolls for over 10 years now. wouldn't that have had an effect on HER already? so yeah, please dont judge just give an honest, educated answer.

thanks!

Update:

ALSO ive heard the oil based paints may have lead and/or other harsh metals and materials
