Here are some good ones I've seen recently:

Black Swan- Psychological Thriller starring Natalie Portman as a stressed and not completely mentally stable ballerina chosen as the prima ballerina for a production of Swan Lake.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy- There's a mole in British Intelligence during the Cold War. It's got a great cast, including: Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Benedict Cumberbatch, and a lot of other awesome actors. However, for such a simple premise, it can be very confusing.

The King's Speech- Starring Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush, and Helena Bonham Carter. This one's about King George VI, and how he deals with having a speech impediment at a time when he really needs to be a leader. This movie's not completely historically accurate, but the acting's wonderful and the whole movie is just really good! Firth's and Rush's characters have a pretty great bromance too :)

Also, just some good ones off the top of my head:

    Les Miserables (1998)

    Silence of the Lambs

    V for Vendetta

    Pride and Prejudice (2005)

    Lincoln

  • sorry that there's not that many, im only listing ones that i think are really good.

    Action:

    salt

casino royale (james bond, imo one of the better ones)

    Romantic Comedies:

How to lose a guy in just 10 days

    Drama:

The curious case of benjamin button*

    Last night

    Romance:

    Atonement*

    Remember Me

    Silver Linings Playbook*

    My Week with Marilyn

    Comedy:

How to lose friends and alienate people

    Other:

    Almost Famous

    Midnight in Paris*

*=oscar nomination for best picture award

i hope this helps some! :D
