If libertarian types drastically cut federal spending, do they comprehend that means State taxes will go way..?

Are the tax fairies going to make up all that difference for National Army level spending at the State level?

Or roads? Or schools? Or hospitals...?

The money for these things has to come from somewhere, geniuses.

Every State will spend huge amounts of money reinventing the wheel, for exactly the same programs as in other States.

In the short term yeah probably, but the problem with runaway federal spending is that everyone thinks they are spending someone else's money. Once they realize the money is coming out of their own pocket, they won't be nearly so willing to drop millions of dollars on research into things like; how cow flatulance impacts global warming, or why so many lesbian are overweight.

Increasing taxes is just like giving an alcoholic a drink. It makes them worse, and ultimately hastens their demise.

Bottom line; You'd be surprised what you can do without when you have to pay for it.

Who says the programs at the federal level need to be initiated at the state? There are other methods to achieve the same prosperity without taking more taxes from the individual.

For example; If the federal government legalized drugs and allowed states to regulate, they could take the sales taxes from marijuana and any other recreational drug the state deems fit, and create a type of social security fund for seniors. You could also have a tax rate if you desired, but it could be significantly lowered in order to achieve a stable fund. After all, recreational drugs is the worlds 3rd most profitable business.

The federal government can do alot with healthcare by simply staying out of it, and not creating another program. For Example:

    - Make healthcare costs tax deductable

    - Legalize healthcare insurance competition across state lines to help lower costs

    - Offer deep tax breaks to pharmaceutical companies that donate medication to free clinics

    - Offer doctors a tax refund for malpractice insurance, if they work 8 documented hours a week at a free clinic.

    - Legalize the prescription of natural alternatives to pharmaceuticals

This could be an option to make medicare obsolete because seniors would never have to pay for care again.

Why don't you try thinking outside of the box?

(sigh) It just means that the states will have to learn to live on what it makes the same as the central government.

And a big component is WHERE you cut. Libertarians would likely improve spending to our infrastructure from all the savings from not giving money to nations that hate us and grants to study how monkeys in south america like to spank themselves.

Do you realize what percent of the budget roads, schools, hospitals, all infrastructure, etc. is????

    Less than 3%.

Ever wonder why Libertarians don't advocate cutting those? Now you know. Stop spreading lies.

We spend 3x as much now as we did at the end of Clinton's first term. Do you really believe that we spend that intelligently?

Don't you think we can cut some spending?

If the liberal types keep spending at the rate they spend--do they realize that bankruptcy destroys everything equally?
