The TPS is located directly across from the throttle cables on the throttle body.

t tells the ECM how far the throttle body valve is open. This is part of the determination as to how long to pulse (open) the fuel injectors.

It is a rheostat, just like a volume control on a radio. It has 5V on the input side, and ground on the other, with the center lead voltage feeding the ECM. It should be .5V or so at closed position and 4.5V to 5V at wide open.

This is a critical adjustment in that if it is too far off it can cause a rich burn (lower fuel economy) or a lean burn (possible engine damage due to overheat).
